Born and raised in Uppsala, Sweden, Peter Sandberg is a composer who has crafted an international reputation creating music for television and commercials from Discovery and Netflix, to Volvo and Tesla.
Working out of a small studio in his backyard, Peter is a multi-instrumentalist, whose work is predominantly piano based, but also features guitars, synthesisers and “all kinds of fretted instruments”.
The grace and elegance of Peter’s compositions are informed by a restlessness of spirit that saw him take up the piano, aged twelve, and finally find a way to channel the “undrainable source of energy” that had earned him the label of a problematic child. Peter’s ADHD allowed him to hyperfocus, finding the stillnesss and calm so evident in the music he now creates.
Today, Peter’s restlessness is in the service of his constant evolution as a musician and composer, whether it’s experimenting with his new Una Corda piano, or realising his goal of learning the violin. Much of Peter’s work has a soothing, restorative quality, yet his upcoming album, Motion, is explicitly informed by a lifetime of slowing things down towards a meditative stillness that turns his music towards the ambient and textural.
